The skateboarding landscape has dramatically shifted since 2000. Digital communication reigns, dating apps have changed how people connect, and the rise of major corporations has significantly impacted skater-owned shoe brands. However, Lakai continues to thrive, leveraging their 20-year history to propel them forward.
A prime example of this is the revamped Mike Carroll signature shoe. This isn’t just a re-release; it’s a reimagining. Lakai has taken the core of Mike Carroll’s iconic pro model, famously featured in his Modus Operandi part, and updated it with two decades of technological advancements. To celebrate this release, Lakai reached out to us to find a way to spread the word, despite current limitations.
During a brainstorming session, a marketing representative jokingly mentioned that Carroll was renowned for two things: skateboarding and raving. Given that skating was temporarily off the table, they decided to have him curate a playlist. The idea resonated since the shoe itself is a kind of remix, a blend of old and new.
Carroll delivered, sending a mix featuring a diverse selection of West Coast Rap, East Coast Rap, and some unexpected party gems. This “New Old Shoe Promotion Mix” is designed to energize your space and build excitement around his reimagined OG shoe in 2020. So, get ready to move.
Make sure you download the mix here while it’s available.
