Far from the stereotypical quiet European plazas, we discovered a skate community that rivals any other city on the continent. Finnish skaters are making a name for themselves, and this skate tour of Helsinki proves it.
To showcase the talent Finland has to offer, we linked up with two local pros, Jaakko Ojanen and Eetu Toropainen. These guys aren’t just skaters; they’re ambassadors of the Finnish skate scene. Jaakko turned pro, and together they released a split video part, putting Helsinki firmly on the map as a must-visit destination for skateboarding enthusiasts.
During a break from the competition, Jaakko and Eetu took us on an impromptu skate tour of Helsinki. This wasn’t your average sightseeing tour; it was an adrenaline-fueled journey through the city’s best skate spots, showcasing why Helsinki is a true skateboarding gem. The guys demonstrated their skills at each spot, proving that Helsinki’s skate scene is not to be underestimated.
The energy and passion of the local skate community were contagious. Each spot we visited had its own unique character, and the locals shredded them with ease. It was a truly memorable experience that showcased the depth and creativity of the skateboarding scene in Helsinki. This tour wasn’t just about hitting spots; it was about experiencing the culture and passion that these two skaters brought to their city.
From ledges and banks to rails and gaps, Helsinki has it all. What’s even better is that these spots are not just random locations; they are part of the city’s urban landscape, breathing with the city’s flow and rhythm. Witnessing Eetu and Jaakko shred through these spots was nothing short of inspiring and the session showcased their skill and the unique skate-friendly environment of Helsinki.
