For about a decade, Fancy Lad Skateboards has carved a unique space in skateboarding with videos blending indie skate vibes and campy horror aesthetics. We’ve all seen their backyard trampoline tricks, the bizarre board assembly in their driveway, and the over-the-top kitchen skits. But a true tour of the Fancy Lad HQ has always been a mystery – until now.
Following their latest video release, Secrets of the Clown Box, we decided to visit their Boston headquarters, not just for a tour but to experience the unique atmosphere firsthand (and catch a bonus demolition derby, available on the site tomorrow).
From the outside, it might seem like your average skate house, but once inside, it’s clear that this place is far from ordinary. Sure, there are the typical beer cans scattered around, piles of old camera gear, and skate memorabilia adorning the walls. But there’s something else, an unsettling feeling that you’ve stepped into a bizarre parallel universe. It’s an environment where creativity and chaos collide, a true reflection of the Fancy Lad ethos.
If you plan a visit, it’s best to come prepared. Bring a few twelve-packs of your favorite beverage, and maybe some cleaning supplies too. You’ll be helping out, and might even fit right in.

The Fancy Lad house isn’t just a place to live; it’s a living, breathing testament to their unique brand. It’s where they create their unconventional videos, assemble their custom boards, and basically let their imaginations run wild, resulting in the type of content that made them popular in the first place.
The skateboards scattered around aren’t just equipment; they’re pieces of art, each with a story to tell. They’ve clearly spent countless hours in this space, and it’s all part of their creative process. The atmosphere is a big part of what makes their videos so weird and wonderful. The house is, in a way, a character itself.
The camera equipment lying around shows that they’re not just skaters; they’re also filmmakers. It also shows how much of their time is spent filming and editing all their various projects. This DIY approach is core to their identity. This adds to the raw, authentic style that makes their videos stand out.

The “eerie alternate reality” isn’t just a vibe; it’s a reflection of their unconventional approach to skateboarding and life in general. It’s where they embrace the strange, the absurd, and the downright weird. It’s a space that allows them to push boundaries and challenge the status quo. This approach is likely why their videos have gained such a dedicated following.
The “skate memorabilia” isn’t just decor; it’s a testament to their love of the culture. These aren’t just random posters and stickers; they’re symbols of the skating world, which serves as inspiration for them. This love of skate culture is obvious throughout their videos. This adds depth to what they do, which is more than just creating funny clips.

The beer cans aren’t just evidence of good times. They’re a common thread in many skate spots, a reminder of those who came before them. And while they certainly enjoy a good time, this also gives their space a kind of down to earth feeling. It makes them relatable to most other skaters around the world.
The fact that the house doesn’t fall into the “usual cliche” of a skate house is what makes it so special. It’s a space that’s truly their own, a reflection of their unique personalities and creative vision. It’s a reminder that skateboarding isn’t just about tricks and skill; it’s also about creativity, community, and the freedom to express oneself in whatever way you feel fit.

This tour of the Fancy Lad HQ offers a glimpse into the heart of their creative world. It’s more than just a house; it’s a reflection of the ethos that makes Fancy Lad such a unique force in skateboarding. The chaos, creativity, and community all come together in a place that is uniquely their own.
