Hanging Out With Louie Lopez: A Day of Skating, Sensory Deprivation, and Surprises

The typical “Day In The Life” segment often feels overly staged and predictable. The camera crew arrives, the skater “wakes up,” they hit a few popular spots, and conveniently run into friends, concluding with a casual beer. For our feature with pro skater Louie Lopez, we aimed for the opposite: an unplanned, spontaneous experience. We simply wanted to spend a few hours with Louie, joining him in whatever he felt like doing, whether it was grabbing coffee, listening to music, or even just helping with groceries.

This is a glimpse into our day with Louie, which included some skating at Venice Beach, an unusual experience in sensory deprivation tanks, and a surprise party for his new Cons CTAS colorway at a local bowling alley.

We started our day at the iconic Venice Beach, where Louie showcased his effortless style and skill. The smooth concrete was a perfect canvas for his flow, and the casual, unplanned skate session was a great way to kick off the day. Louie’s ability to make even the most technical tricks look easy is a testament to his years of dedication to skateboarding.

After the skate session, we decided to try something completely different and headed to a sensory deprivation tank center. The idea was to see if the isolation and silence would lead to relaxation, or perhaps something more psychedelic. Louie, ever the adventurous spirit, was game. The experience of floating in the dark, with all external stimuli removed, was certainly unique and provided a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the skate park. It was a fascinating interlude into the unexpected, showing another side of Louie’s personality.

The day culminated in a surprise party for Louie’s new Cons CTAS colorway. We managed to lure him to a bowling alley under false pretenses, where a group of friends and fans were waiting to celebrate. The look on Louie’s face was priceless, a genuine mix of surprise and happiness. It was a great ending to an already unpredictable and exciting day.

This “Hanging Out With” segment was filmed by Richard Quintero and edited by Alexis Castro, with music by Danny Boy Blue – Color. Be sure to check out our Facebook and Instagram pages for more.
